romantic progression (posted by bernhard elsner) 11/12/2001 4:11:00 pm
One other title by A. Mabeix is called "Heroic Progressions". This one would deserve the title "Romantic Progressions". A soft and simple cello melody interweaves with a piano line and goes on and on, not by repeating but by building itself up. More and more instruments enter the scene, the oboe taking up the melody from the cello.
I imagine this score very well for a scene that starts softly and intensifies gradually. There are many moments where the music hesitates just before a new entry (ritardando) thus allowing good film cuts.
